“Definitely the vegetarian options,” Elara said, "but I need to check for any allergen warnings. I also prefer gluten-free if possible.” Liam, a strict vegan, nodded. “I’m always checking. I’m thinking the lentil stew. Is it very spicy, do you know?”
“I can ask,” Elara offered. When the waiter returned, they asked about the spice level and requested a recommendation for a side dish. “The roasted carrots are lovely,” he suggested. Liam chose sparkling water as his beverage; Elara decided on a fresh juice. For their mains, Liam got the stew, and Elara ordered a medium steak, while a well done burger would be too much for her; she preferred a smaller portion tonight.
After a delicious meal, they skipped dessert, feeling perfectly content. When the waiter brought the bill, Liam smiled. “Let me treat you tonight,” he insisted, preventing Elara from suggesting they split the bill. It was a lovely surprise.
