“Is this the right exit?” Amir asked, his eyes wide in the noisy clinic. He held a small box from the factory where he worked. The bright smell of medicine mixed with animals filled the room. The Saturday morning was chaotic and warm.
Amir’s heart was fast. He had not seen his old dog for a year. The veterinarian called, “Your dog is ready.” This was exciting and strange. Could his dog still remember Amir? His eyes looked tired after a long evening last night without sleep.
