Last Sunday, I visited a small art gallery near my apartment. Sunlight came through the big windows, shining on paintings and calligraphy hanging on the white walls. The art made the space feel calm, and I noticed that even the other visitors walked slowly and spoke quietly. It was a nice change from my usual weekends, which I sometimes spend binge-watching TV shows at home. Inside the gallery, I felt proud to live in a city that supports the arts in such a peaceful, casual way.
Spending time with real paintings and calligraphy reminded me of how important it is to see art up close. No concealer or filter hides the brushstrokes or the feeling the artist wanted to show. After an hour at the gallery, I left feeling more relaxed. Sometimes, a break from screens and noise is just what city life needs.
