A baby was found safe on a beach in Brighton on Sunday after a search that began when a family lost sight of the child. The baby was asleep in a bag near a wall, a short walk from the water. Police said the child was not hurt and was soon back with the family.
The search started when a ball rolled across the sand and the adults turned to get it. A beach worker saw the baby and called for help. She used a pen to write down the time and place for the police. “We were glad to find the child safe,” she said.
Police asked beach visitors to keep children close in busy areas. The family thanked the worker and left the beach later that day. Officers said they would speak with the family, but no further action was planned.
