“Better safe than sorry,” muttered a man nearby after noticing the fisherman’s lost transaction receipt. A colleague whispered about some deadline that everyone had forgotten. The fisherman thought about the contract he had signed recently, the loan he hoped to repay soon, and the insurance that might help if he failed. Suddenly, the silence broke. “You should keep this,” said the woman again, smiling, handing him a rose and a tulip pressed inside the book.
